We wrapped up our piano year with a recital for Brooklynn and Hallie. They both have worked so hard!
Our favorite moments from the recital, Brooklynn's music falling off the piano in the middle, she had to keep going from memory..
small child escaped from parents (not ours) and crawled around the stage as she played..didn't phase her! We can thank her sisters at home for this training as practice time is always filled with distractions. Hallie on the other hand reminds us of Don Music from Sesame Street, literaly hitting her head on the keys at times ...she stressed and stressed, but when she claimed that it was a horrible preformance..we had the video to prove that she made zero mistakes..poor Hallie my little perfectionist..(we are currently doing yoga for stress relief)

But EVERYONES favorite was actually a preformance from another little student.
As the teacher introduced him, a little boy probably only 6 or 7, she mentioned that he was different from us..but in many ways better than us. He was severly autistic, not able to focus or stand still, banging on the keys..she slowly sat him down tried a few times to put music on the piano as he batted it away..gently put his hands on the piano and pointed him towards the music. He seemed to click into another person, began to suddenly play a meduim leval classical
piece, sometimes he looked a the music, most of the time he just looked at the sky or audience, but his fingers didn't miss a note. After 2 selections, he was done, and clicked back into his normal state and was escorted off stage. Jared and I were in tears. It was an amazing and special moment that we were blessed to have witnessed. Even the girls couldn't stop talking about it. The best recital I"ve ever seen. The power of music and a loving god who works in all methods. Beautiful!
Thanks for sharing that story! I love first accounts like that. Your stories bring back too many memories! We had to memorize our pieces and I hated forgetting during the recital.
